BU Blade - Xiphoid - p0l1w4g06 - Sep. 05, 2022

Xiphoid (シフォイド, Shifoido) is a BU Blade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the Dynamite Battle Layer System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-200 Starter, Xiphoid Xcalibur Xanthus Sword'-1, on July 16th, 2022.
==Description==
Takara Tomy's Xiphoid is a right-spin Attack Type BU Blade with a sword tip-like protrusion on the bottom that acts as the primary contact point. The design is reminiscent of the Sieg Xcalibur Layer, which Xiphoid references. Xiphoid works in tandem with the Xcalibur DB Core, with the latter's metal sword gimmick lining up with Xiphoid's protrusion to change into the "One Hit Mode (一撃モード, Ichigeki Mōdo)". Like its predecessors in the Xcalibur line, this is meant to create an imbalanced weight distribution, focused at the protrusion, making the Combination excel at Knock-Out (KO) and Burst Attack. In addition, the overall diamond shape creates four recoil heavy points of contact.

Compared to contemporary Attack options such as Savior and Ultimate, Xiphoid tends to perform much better against combinations using Vanish and serve as an excellent counter to the prevalent Dynamite/Devil(F Gear). However, for the former matchup, one must hard launch the Xiphoid combination (preferably with a rubber tip such Xtreme').

Due to its design, Xiphoid's sword contact will wear over time, much like its predecessors, so multiple copies must be purchased. While it is still usable in this state, it requires more precise launches to work, and its opposite spin ability is diminished.

Like all BU Blades, Xiphoid can switch between Low and High Modes by swapping the position of the DB Core and the Armor.

==Use in Attack Combinations==
Xiphoid can be used in the Attack Combination Xiphoid Xcalibur/Belial 2/Kerbeus/Perseus/Valkyrie 2 Giga/Over/Fortress/Illegal Xtreme'-0/1/10. The alignment of the Xcalibur Core's sword and the 1 armor helps focus weight on Xiphoid's sword, which combined with heavy weight of the discs and the Core's built-in sword to to deliver maximum damage, further complemented by Xtreme' 's high speed while its high grip reduces banking pattern loss due to its unbalanced design. Xanthus is another option for those for favor Burst Resistance via the BU Lock system, but its high scrape risk would mandate using a much taller attack tip.  Despite being meant to be used with Xcalibur and 1 in mind, metagame staples like other Cores and Armors would be much preferred due to their higher weighst and better Burst Resistance. (Note:Written before Moon release, Moon likely better).
==Overall==
Like its predecessors, Xiphoid's heavy recoil design makes it a top tier Attack Blade.

As such, Xiphoid is a must have for competitive bladers.
